Safeguarding Letter

Dear Parents,

Some of you will be aware of the recent news of a nursery worker from Torbay being arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent child images.  It is extremely distressing to hear about such a serious safeguarding issue and staff here have been notified about the news reports. However, staff will not be making any comment regarding this investigation or the nurseries involved.

We would encourage anyone who has any relevant information to please contact the Police on 101 quoting EN/028104/15.

We want to take this opportunity to remind you of our policies on protecting children. All of our policies can be found on our web site.

All staff employed by us are interviewed before employment, have DBS checks and references from at least two sources.  They have regular supervisions to monitor practice and at annual appraisals we recheck DBS’s. Staff are prohibited from taking their own phones into the nursery, and we insist that parents and visitors do not take phones out of bags and pockets when visiting. All the photographs that are taken, on nursery devices, are stored centrally and can be reviewed by all staff. Staff are informed at induction, and our monthly staff meetings, of their duty to protect all children and to monitor each other at work. They are informed of routes to report any concerns they have about the care and protection of the children.

We take all safeguarding matters extremely seriously.

If you have any further questions about our policies and procedures please contact me.

Kind regards

Mary Gay
